Pizzeria Locale, the fast-casual Neapolitan pie offshoot of Boulder’s Frasca Food & Wine, opened its third Denver location on Monday in Stapleton.
The brand specializes in pizzas baked quickly in high-heat ovens, along with side salads and meatballs and miniature budino (puddings) for dessert. At the new location, diners can also order beer and spritzes on tap, plus canned wine, beer and other beverages.
Pizzeria locale operates elsewhere in Denver on 32nd Avenue in Highland and Broadway. The Denver locations are co-owned by Chipotle and owners of Frasca Food and Wine, while Boulder’s Pizzeria Locale is operated solely by the Frasca team.
That original concept opened in 2011 and went on to spawn the chain that expanded as far as Kansas City and Cincinnati. Last year, Chipotle announced all five Pizzeria Locale locations were closing in the Midwest, while the Denver brand would be growing.
Pizzeria Locale Stapleton is the first opening of the brand locally in five years. Another pie shop is expected to open soon at 9th and Colorado.
