Popeyes who? A new LoHi restaurant serves up seven different fried chicken sandwiches.
Fried chicken alert: You can now add Chicken Rebel’s to your list of dredged bird sandwiches to try around Denver.
The food truck and former Avanti stall has opened its brick-and-mortar restaurant on Tejon Street in Lower Highland, next door to Mythology Distillery.
At Chicken Rebel, owner Lydie Lovett serves her fried chicken as well as breakfast chicken, vegan “chicken,” hot chicken and more sandwiches ($11-$12) alongside five types of loaded tater tots ($6.50-$8).
There are chicken and waffles ($13), fried chicken cobb salad ($13) and hot chicken tacos ($11.50). Mac and cheese ($10.50), fried pickles ($7) and other non-chicken snack items are also on the menu.
Plus, Chicken Rebel offers a full bar and will begin brunch service — hello, fried chicken Benedict! — next month.
